Christmas Morning, Whatever That Means to You
A brief offering for however you’re spending today
This morning, we find ourselves in different places.
Some of you are surrounded by family, by noise, by wrapping paper and warmth. Some of you are alone, by choice or circumstance. Some of you are working. Some of you are grieving. Some of you are navigating complicated gatherings with complicated people.
Some of you celebrate this day deeply. Some of you are simply getting through it.
I don’t know where this finds you. But I wanted to offer a moment of acknowledgment.
Whatever today holds for you, it’s allowed to be exactly that.
Joy is allowed. Grief is allowed. Exhaustion, gratitude, loneliness, love, all of these are allowed. The mix of all of them at once is allowed, as are other feelings not listed here.
You don’t have to perform anything. You don’t have to feel anything in particular. You just have to be here, in whatever way you’re here.
The light is still returning, a minute at a time. The year is still turning, and you’re still walking through it, one day at a time.
That’s enough for today.
Holding you, wherever you are.
