what a beautiful idea. My daughter walked the Camino several years ago -- she wanted silence, but got lots of people wanting conversation so took to wearing headphones (not playing anything), but still the conversation came so she settled on getting up extremely early to walk and loved the deep peace.
What an excellent way for her to cope! The first time I walked it, I couldn't articulate how I wanted silence. All I knew was that something did not feel right about it. The crowds of people, groups of teens (even one with a boom box, yes -- a boom box on the Camino), and the endless talking!! I could have stayed home in New York City, it was so busy!!
That was in Spain, and this one is in France, where the mass crowds have not yet discovered it.
This is the retreat walking experience I wanted when I went looking for one, and since I couldn't find it after 5 walks, I decided to create it myself.
